The much anticipated BD-1 firmware update is here.

1. Fixed 1080p24hz HDMI output Panasonic TV with noise problems
2. Solve some of the MKV-VC1 no video output problem
3. Network test message, added more details.
4. Enhanced SAMBS / NFS automatically search and password detection. To support the sharing of NAS detection
5. HD Audio issues resolved
6. HDMI hotplugging stability fixed
7. Added background music function:
a. When playing music, press the stop button to exit playback and return to directory listing; press the back/return button while playing the audio track to activate background music.
b. background music supports menu browsing, image slide show , browser navigation operations. Browse the menu interface, press the stop key to stop the background music.
c. Automatically terminate BGM when playing video/music track.
d. BGM will loop the audio files within the same directory. Limitations are not able to adjust the background music volume, fast forward / rewind, or any music controls.
8. Added automatically scanning for WIFI hotspot within range, and WEP/WPA support.
9. Added weather forecast (activate in settings -> systems

Dear All,

MPC Clubs has finally release a much anticipated review for the HDX Bone.

If there was an award for ‘Thinking out of the Box’ I would award HDX with it. The community needs manufacturers and developers who can think outside the box, as the media player market and its players are all becoming just that, ‘A Box’! I applaud HDX for attempting to develop something different, but less haste HDX and a little more development before release would be a good thing. It would have been good to have Android tailored for the player and not just a dump of a smart phone OS.

Bone support Cover Art Browsing!

Dear All,

We are pleased to annouce that the HDX Bone now supports cover art browsing of movies and also supports mp3 cover art through ID3 support.

Although we have not release the official firmware to enable this, beta users are testing for any bugs. It will soon become available to everyone.

Keep the requests coming and we will try our best to fulfill them.

PS: Android 2.1 is in the works, and we expect to release it by July 2010.

It is with pleasure that i annouce the much awaited firmware update for BD-1 to be available. The firmware version is not 5.0, but rather 4.14, i always intended for the release to be 1st April so this was meant to be a joke that we never clarify about the firmware version.

BD-1 Firmware 5.0!

Dear BD-1 Owners,

It is with a heavy heart that i have to deliver this message to you. We have initially planned for the release of the much anticipated firmware version 5.0 in the beginning of April. Unfortunately due to technical reasons, we have to push back the release date.

After spending hundreds of hours further testing the firmware for stability and compatibility on our test players, we confidence that we could release on the 15th. Thanks to Murphy's Law, a major bug has been detected, where firmware does not flash properly and causes systems to crash after we have flashed a number of players to 5.0, almost 3% of them came out dead. We are baffled with this result as it shouldn't happen, and our CTO pull back the release to avoid damages to end-user player.

We understand that this delay does not reflect well on the company overall image however we choose to be responsible with the findings of this bug. We learned keeping a dateline is tough, especially when BD-1 is our first attempt at developing a middleware and although we have experience engineers onboard but they are on a steep learning curves. I hope that by sharing more information about the situation, we can have your kind understanding.

Now, the next question is WHEN will it be ready? To be frank, our guys are still working with sigma engineers together to pin point the issue which affects the 3% of players. I'll will provide more information when they becomes available.
